After living all over the country, I eventually settled for a time in Virginia and earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology and master's in Special Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. I am fascinated by psychology and continue to study the field to learn as much as I can. I hold teaching licenses for Colorado and California and have taught Special Education for the past 11 years. Prior to this I worked as a behavior therapist. I enjoy tutoring and connecting with students in various teaching settings. My strengths are in language arts and mathematics. I have tutored in algebra, elementary and middle school math, reading and writing, grammar, and psychology. I am a strong believer that every student has the capacity to learn and excel and I strive as a teacher and mentor to help make that happen. All students have their own style of learning and I always identify those styles, assess their strengths and weaknesses, and tailor my lessons to gain the most academic benefit. My hobbies and interests include traveling throughout the US and abroad, hiking Colorado's mountains, reading, fishing, and basketball.
